[It is established that the genera Leptopharsa StÅl and Perissonemia Drake & Poor are not represented in the Afrotropical and Malagasy regions. The taxonomic changes proposed for the Afrotropical and Malagasy species previously included in these two genera are the following : (1) Leptopharsa milleri Drake, Perissonemia pagnana Drake and Perissonemia halleriae Rodrigues are transferred to the genus Bunia Schouteden. Bunia ituriensis Schouteden and Perissonemia garambana Rodrigues are new synonyms of Bunia milleri (Drake). These species have asymmetrical male parameres, and are the first known cases of asymmetrical male genitalia in the Tingidae. (2) Leptopharsa reuniona Drake is transferred to the genus Paraperissonemia Rodrigues. (3) Perissonemia nigerrima (Schouteden), Perissonemia delagoana Drake and Perissonemia sierrana Drake are transferred to the genus Gitava Drake. (4) Perissonemia stricta Rodrigues is transferred to the genus Paraleptoypha Rodrigues. (5) A new genus, Sisperonemia gen. n., is proposed for Perissonemia yeboana Rodrigues. (6) Leptopharsa ralla Drake is known by the author only from its original description; so, it is considered for the moment as a species incertae sedis., Structure and function of the external genitalia of both sexes of Zygaena Fabricius, 1775 are reviewed and analyzed with special reference to their importance as pregamous isolation mechanisms. The male external genitalia possess two highly specialized sclerotized structures, i.e. the lamina dorsalis and the lamina ventralis. Both show a considerable change of position during copulation and are thought to function as opening mechanisms for the mechanically well closed female genitalia. During copulation, the cornuti of the aedoeagus are found in a position adjacent to two sclerotized rims in the ductus bursae of the female. Pheromone specificity and sperm incompatability are regarded to act as main isolation mechanisms in the reproductive biology of closely related Zygaena Fabricius species.]
