image of Insect Systematics & Evolution

The coroebine genus Coraebosoma Obenberger is revised for the first time with six new species, five described from the Philippine Islands: C. samarense from Samar Is., C. panayense from Panay Is., C. negrosianum from Negros Is., C. sibuyanicum from Romblon and Sibyan Is., C. violaceum from Mindanao Is. and C. indicum, from southern India. The genus is redescribed with the type-species, C. manilense Obenberger, C. carteri Hoscheck and new species diagnostically described. A key to separate the species, illustrations, and a distribution map are presented along with discussion on the generic relationships. The species are cladistically analyzed and supported by an area cladogram.
