In 1914 Agnes Smith Lewis and Alphonse Mingana published an edition of the scriptio inferior of a few Qurānic leaves from the codex rescriptus, Cambridge University Library Or. 1287. The edition was severely criticized and rejected by scholars. Curiously enough the edition overshadowed the manuscript, which after the publication of the edition received little or no attention.

This article presents the story of the manuscript, the story of the edition of its Qurānic portion, and it gives a survey of the digitization project. Finally, it throws light on an interesting case of verification of a ‘curious’ variant mentioned in the Mingana-Lewis edition.
