Die Anwendung einer externe und interne Merkmale berücksichtigenden Textsortendefinition, der Rückgriff auf die handschriftliche und gedruckte Überlieferung und nicht auf Editionen und das methodische Vorgehen von den hierarchisch gesehen größten Einheiten (den Makrostrukturen) über die Syntax zu den hierarchisch gesehen niedrigeren Einheiten (der Lexik) führt an ausgewählten Textexemplaren der Bibel, am Buch Genesis und am Matthäus-Evangelium, für die Handschriftentradition von a. 1456 bis a. 1483 (14 Textexemplare) und für die Drucktradition von a. 1466 bis a. 1545 (8 Textexemplare) zur Definition der beiden Textsorten ‘(Geoffenbarte) Erzählung’ und ‘(Geoffenbarter) Bericht’ mit jeweils zwei Textsortenvarianten.
