Ausgehend von der Tatsache, dass es in einer frühneuzeitlichen funeralen Gedenkausgabe in erster Linie der der Christlichen Leichenpredigt angehängte Personalteil mit einem mehr oder weniger ausführlichen Lebenslauf des oder der Verstorbenen ist, der der historischen Wissenschaft als Quelle dient, wird im Folgenden der Frage nachgegangen, ob oder inwieweit auch die Leichabdankung als Bestandteil der funeralen Gedenkausgabe eine Quelle historischer Wissenschaft ist oder sein kann.
