ABSTRACT The five copepodid stages of Doridicola longicauda (Claus, 1860), a poecilostomatoid copepod (family Lichomolgidae) living on the gills of Sepia officinalis in Lake Faro, Messina, Italy, are described. Sexual differentiation first occurs in copepodid V, in which the male and female maxillipeds are differently formed. The adult stages of the two sibling species D. longicauda (Claus, 1860) and D. sepiae (Izawa, 1976) are compared.
