ABSTRACT The genus Protorchestia Bousfield (Amphipoda: Talitridae) is recorded in Tasmania for the first time, and a new species, P. lakei, is described. A key to the 3 known species of Protorchestia is provided, and the diversity of Tasmanian Talitridae is described in terms of Bousfield's informal classification.
