Abstract A new genus and species, Hampsonellus brasiliensis, is described. This species has been found in shallow, marine, soft bottoms on the southern Atlantic coast of Brazil. We discuss the principal generic differences in the Cephalocarida, which are in reproductive modifications of limb structure of posterior thoracopods.
