In their essay the authors analyze previously neglected documents of J.P. Sapieha’s Russian archive (1608–1611). Comparison of these documents with the data of “Sapieha`s Journal” and other Polish-Luthuanian sources from the beginning of the seventeenth century enables them to carry out a complex examination of the materials and to cross-verify their data. On the basis of their work with J.P. Sapieha’s documents, the authors argue that the technique of archival reconstruction first proposed by Ruslan Grigor’evich Skrynnikov and then developed by Igor Olegovich Tyumentsev works effectively.
