title RIASSUNTO /title

Questo saggio stabilisce un rapporto tra il DIALOGO di Galileo e la tradizione umanistico rinascimentale del dibattito, in cui le personae, ciascuna delle quali rappresenta un sistema filosofico distinto, dibattono il loro caso in maniera polemica. Viene mostrato l'uso galileiano di questa forma per includere un'applicazione intensiva e brillante della retorica epideittica e le tecniche collegate dell'elogio e del biasimo, utilizzate sin dai tempi della Retorica di Aristotele per la valutazione di questioni etiche e filosofiche.
