Secondo l'assunto corrente per cui il foglio 116v registrava misure di proiezioni orizzontali dopo cadute terminali di 828 punti, si ritiene che Galileo abbia compiuto errori sperimentali dell'ordine del 3% (o pi, a seconda che si adottino calcoli assoluti piuttosto che proporzionali). Un riesame delle espressioni e dei dati presenti in foglio 116v indica una accuratezza molto maggiore delle misure di Galileo e getta nuova luce sul suo studio delle proiezioni orizzontali. Si chiarisce cos il nesso con lo studio galileiano delle proiezioni oblique discendenti. Si documenta il fatto che Galileo consider anche la proiezione obliqua ascendente, ottenendo un risultato che rifer ad Antonio de' Medici nel febbraio 1609.
