Affiliations: 1: Attorney-at-Law, Beirut, Professor of Law, University of St Joseph, Beirut. I would like to acknowledge the efficient help of Gareth Smyth for the fine tuning of this chapter. For description of sources of Lebanese law, see volume 1 of the Yearbook (1994). The main reference to court decisions this year is to the journal of the Beirut Bar, al-'Adl, which has an extensive coverage. The private collection known as Ijtihadat Hatem, which was the most up to date last year, seems to have been temporarily discontinued since the editor, Me Chafic Qurtbawi, was elected president of the Bar.
