In recent scholarship there is greater acceptance of the authenticity of the 'son of man' sayings in the dominical tradition, though in some circles linkage with Dan. 7.13-14 is still denied. The present paper affirms this linkage, arguing that fundamental elements of Jesus' proclamation of the kingdom of God, especially with regard to the perceived struggle with the kingdom of Satan, cannot be properly understood apart from appreciation of the contribution of Daniel 7.
