ABSTRACT Epidermal nucleoli undergo morphological changes in Gammarus that are about to molt or that have received small integumental lesions. The nucleoli largely change from a condensed condition to one in which they appear as nucleolar necklaces, a switch that precedes a period of sustained cuticle deposition, either as part of the pre- and postmolt events or in the repair of localized damage.
