On 1st July 2009, the new internal justice system started operating at the United Nations. The formal component of the system, with the two-tiers Tribunal has been producing a large amount of jurisprudence based on the UN Charter, various resolutions especially of the UN General Assembly but more importantly on regulations issued by the UN Secretary General and on human rights instruments in general. This Yearbook will offer a comprehensive analysis of that jurisprudence on a yearly basis, with (i) case summaries, (ii) doctrine papers and (iii) an extensive index to assist international lawyers, international civil servants and policy-makers in mastering and using this jurisprudence. One constant highlight in this publication is an internal perspective of the United Nations secretariat vis-a-vis the principle of rule of law.
